A scintillating slice of tropical pop about pleasure, passion and depression, ‘Pleasure’ is the latest new single from Edinburgh synth-pop duo Maranta. Released as part of Lost Map’s PostMap Club subscription service, backed with an exclusive remix by Fuun Haus, AKA Lewis Cook of Free Love, it’s available to stream and share now. ‘Pleasure’ is taken from Maranta’s forthcoming thrilling brand-new EP Deux Pleasure, which will be released on September 30, 2022 on 12” vinyl and digital platforms. A video for ‘Pleasure’, directed and edited by Chell Young and featuring costumes by Vomiton, is available to watch and share. Maranta will play an EP launch show at the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh on Wednesday, October 5.

“Pleasure was conceived around the lyrics ‘do pleasure, do passion, do depression’, playing off of the contrast between the words’ meanings and their similar sounds. It’s the first time we’ve written a song this way, mapping it out and building on the storyboard that the lyrics gave us. It was a joy writing and producing this track as it felt like an exploration of genres and an experimentation in the way that styles and moods can contrast. Drawing on influences such as Italo disco, R&B and 80s Japanese pop.”
